Without a doubt, cherries are my favorite fruit! My daughter Ellie picked these from our own trees for the first time, so exciting!
In my humble opinion Cherries Jubilee is one of the best things in the world! And who does’t want to set their dessert on fire!
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1 Tbs of cornstarch
• 1/4 cup of water
• 1/4 cup of orange juice
• 3 cups fresh tart cherries, pitted (you could use frozen cherries, but not canned)
• 1/2 tsp of orange zest
• 1/4 cup of of brandy
Combine sugar and cornstarch in a medium saucepan.
Add water and orange juice, stir til well mixed. Cook until thickened, stirring occasionally. Add cherries and orange peel, bring to a boil, turn the heat to low, simmer for about 20 minutes. Heat the brandy for a few minutes in a separate saucepan, then, pour it over the cherries and ignite!Serve over vanilla ice cream or lighten up and serve over frozen yogurt. You can serve this warm or cold. So simple…yet…so sophisticated!
