Treakle is very similar to molasses. You may have heard of the famous, British "Treacle Tart", it's Harry Potter's favorite! So, this recipe is for a simple, insanely delicious, treacle glaze for steaks, it's combined with fresh thyme, minced garlic, Worcestershire and a little oil. Perfectly grilled steaks with a crusty glaze that is both sweet and savory, out of this world! This recipe makes enough glaze for 4 steaks. If you can't find treacle, an unsulfured molasses would be a good substitute.
Ingredients
Glaze
  • 2 Tbs of treacle
  • 1 Tbs of canola oil
  • 3 - 4 thyme sprigs
  • 2 Tbs of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of pepper
  • Steaks
  • 2 New York Strip Steaks or Ribeyes
  • drizzle of olive oil
  • salt & pepper
Instructions
  1. Start by making the glaze, just stir together all the ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Bring your steaks to room temperature before grilling, then drizzle with a little oil and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare your grill for direct heat. Grill the steaks 3-4 minutes on one side, then brush on the glaze, turn and cook for another 3 - 4 minutes, for medium rare. Let rest before serving, enjoy!
Notes
Treacle can be found in Global type supermarkets in a cute little tin, but if you can't find it, you can substitute unsulfered molasses.
