So….Ursi, living in South Beach, went through Hurricane Irma! She evacuated to Orlando to stay with friends, it took 9 hours to get there! The car was loaded with prized possessions, not knowing if her place would be standing when it was all over! My new little “Granddoggy”, Sunny was brave and ready for adventure! We were of course glued to the weather channel for a week leading up to the storm and I was beside myself! So, Irma took a westerly track and South Beach was mercifully spared the hardest hit. Although things were a mess upon their return and there was no electricity, (Sunny and Ursi spent a sleepless night in the car at 98 degrees!) for a few days, buildings were still standing and there was relatively minor damage. We’re so thankful she’s safe and prayers to all of those who were not so lucky, I hope to never live through another Cat. 5 hurricane again, Ursi’s coastal living is nail biting to say the least!
I finally made it to South Beach to visit Ursula! She’s been living there almost 2 1/2 yrs and although she’s been home several times, we have not visited her. So I just got back from a week stay and we had a blast! It was so much fun to see where she lives and where she works and hangs out. I met her friends and her boyfriend Steven and I was pleased and impressed! South Beach is like a fantasy island but has the feel of a small, friendly neighborhood. Ursi is in her element and is thriving! That’s everything a parent can hope for, we miss her terribly but she is happy and healthy and living a dream! Here are a few pics of our adventures! Can’t wait to go back!
