It’s roughly one week after the wedding! Things are starting to get back to normal, whatever that is! Our thoughts and actions have been consumed with wedding prep for months and I have a new appreciation for wedding planners! Attention to detail is the name of the game. The weather fought us every step of the way, but in the end, we dodged several storms and the night was perfect! But let me take you back, our guests were due to arrive at 5:00, we woke early, raced around doing last minute decorating, baked pies, set up the small tents and lit them, the main tent was up and beautifully lit, the tables were set with delicate flower wreaths, antique candles, and vintage plates, and then……at 3:30 the weather radar indicated a severe storm was heading right for us! We took everything off the tables and put it all in the barn. Then at 4:00, it was blowing just a little and drizzling, I said one final prayer and announced that if we don’t put everything back on the tables right now there would be no reception, we had to hope for the best! Our family arrived early thank God, so we put them to work, we scrambled and put it all back together, and I am still in my old torn T-shirt, no bath and hair curlers, I ran inside and threw my dress on, my husband showered, not me, and our guests started to arrive, by then the storm had passed! Our bride and groom were getting ready and my husband and I met the guests and tried to look like we had not had the biggest freak out in history! It turned out to be a spectacular night. Our hard work paid off, it looked like a fairytale scene, right down to the twig covered porta potty! Lanterns and torches lit the perimeter of the woods and twig chandeliers created a dazzling effect in the main tent! My friends catered the event, making my recipes for bbq pork steaks, Carolina chicken, baked beans, slaw, and potato salad, I baked pies and bought Krispy creams for dessert! We danced to classic rock until the wee hours. Here are some of my favorite pics from wedding and reception, our daughter Ellie was a stunning bride and her new husband Brandon as handsome as a GQ model! I can sleep easier now until I have to scramble to open my Antique shop! Oh, wait, we have another younger daughter, Ursula!
